3. Truck-Free Streets
"More recently, both Warringa Road and Warwick Ave are being used as a truck holding area....[Recently there were two trucks], one stopped obstructing traffic with workers on top of the truck, while waiting to be called to the site. The trucks are a regular occurence most days."

Cammeray: more trucks than a Monster Truck Rally
The third major requirement of the Ministerial Conditions laid out a seemingly straightforward task for the Project Team concerning On-Street Parking: maintain the streets as devoid of construction vehicles as possible. But rather than the peaceful roads we envisioned, it feels like Cammeray has turned into the main stage for a monster truck extravaganza! Read on for details of what the ministerial conditions required, what the project teams pledged to do, and the vehicular chaos that's truly unfolding on our streets.
A. What the Ministerial Conditions said the Project Team had to do
Put simply, the Ministerial Conditions require the Project Team to:
MINIMISE TRUCKS PARKING, IDLING AND QUEUEING ON ROADS - including both light and heavy vehicles

B. What the Project Teams said they would do
In summary, the Project teams' plans commit to:
MINIMISE TRUCKS PARKING, IDLING AND QUEUEING ON ROADS - with a variety of conditions in place to do this. Examples include:
-
Providing sufficient space on-site for construction vehicles so that they don't need to idle or queue on public roads (Stages 1B and 2)
-
Monitoring the location of Heavy Vehicles via GPS tracking to ensure that they comply with rules (all Stages)
-
Providing maps of the streets Heavy Vehicles are permitted to use. Here's the map for Cammeray Golf Course for Stage 3. (Note - all traffic is to go on the Warringah Freeway - and not on back streets.)

C. What's actually happening
In the real world our residential streets are flooded with construction vehicles - taking up parking spaces, blocking roads and in the worst case scenario, blocking visibility for young children and school kids crossing roads. In brief Project Teams are:
x
CAMMERAY'S BACKSTREETS ARE BEING USED AS A TRUCK IDLING, PARKING AND WAITING AREA - causing real problems for local residents. This is a particular concern for the safety of young children and school kids - particularly as their is a day care centre in Green Park, which is where they commonly park. It's difficult to see this as anything than deliberate - rather than an unplanned overflow - as trucks are already parked on our streets by 6am.
Two trucks 'parked' - although that term is used loosely' - on the corner of Warringa Road and Warwick Ave. Note the construction workers working away on the truck on the right.
What Cammeray voices are saying about this
There are times when I go to drive and I can't get through. The trucks are double-parked or blocking the street.

We are in Bellevue Street....the street is always full of Downer trucks coming and going.

The trucks are outside by house at 6:50am. This [truck] has been parked there the last three mornings at least.
